As part of Dubai Arbitration Week 2025, Halima Alnaqbi Law Firm hosted one of the most engaging and future focused sessions titled “Pioneering Arbitration Through AI and the Metaverse.” The event took place at the Grand Hyatt Dubai on 13 November 2025 and brought together arbitrators, practitioners, academics, and technology professionals for an evening dedicated to exploring how innovation is reshaping the future of dispute resolution.

From the very beginning, Halima Alnaqbi Law Firm encouraged guests to approach the event with curiosity and openness. Instead of the traditional lecture style format, the team designed an evening built on interaction, movement, and genuine conversation. The goal was simple: create a space where ideas could be explored through experience, not just theory.

The session revolved around three interactive stations, each presenting a different angle of the rapidly evolving arbitration landscape. Together, the stations highlighted some of today’s most important topics in the field, including sanctions, the role of AI, digital hearings, and the rise of virtual environments.

Three Innovation Stations

1. Rotating Group Discussions: Sanctions, AI, and the Future of Arbitration

This station featured two moderated roundtables led by Israa Abdulla (Head of Corporate) and Anda Musaraj (Corporate Consultant), with support from Devi J. Nair and Adnan Karim (Corporate Consultants).

Moderated by Ms. Israa with support from Ms. Devi, the discussion explored how sanctions influence neutrality and enforcement in international arbitration. Guests shared their experiences and examined the challenges tribunals face when sanctions intersect with procedural fairness.

Table 2: Technology and AI in Arbitration

Led by Ms. Anda with support from Mr. Adnan, this session focused on how technology, especially AI, is reshaping arbitration processes. The group discussed new tools for evidence management, drafting, and authentication, and reflected on how these tools can support efficiency while preserving the essential role of human judgment.

Guests described this station as an ideal blend of practical insight and open dialogue.

2. Metaverse Arbitration Simulation: A First Look at the Virtual Hearing Room

The metaverse station stood out as one of the most memorable parts of the evening. It offered an immersive experience that allowed guests to step inside a virtual arbitration environment for the first time.

Mohammed Mamedov (Corporate Consultant) served as the arbitrator in the simulation and walked participants through a mock case. The experience showed how a virtual hearing can maintain order, clarity, and neutrality, even without a physical courtroom.

Supporting the session, Dheeraj Khemnani (Digital Marketing Specialist), Jalal Nader (Digital Media Editor), and Neethu Gineeshkumar (Digital Marketing Specialist) helped attendees understand why Halima Alnaqbi Law Firm chose the theme of AI and the metaverse, how virtual hearings are already being used in places like ADGM, and what benefits these platforms may offer in the future.

For many guests, this was their first time experiencing virtual arbitration. The station offered a practical glimpse into how digital spaces may shape dispute resolution in the coming years.

3. Trivia Quiz and Legal Challenge: Where Learning Meets Competition

Moderated by Aliaksandr Yermalayeu (Corporate Consultant) and Zaur Kurbanov (Senior Corporate Consultant), the final station brought an exciting, competitive twist to the evening. Using a customized quiz, participants answered questions covering arbitration principles, ethics scenarios, procedural rules, and technology developments.

The atmosphere was lively and fun. Many guests described it as a refreshing way to test their knowledge and connect with others in a relaxed setting.

The activities opened the door for meaningful discussions and a renewed sense of curiosity among participants, which carried through to the conversations that followed.
